A few days ago we launched Domain leasing On the atom.
The goal is simple: create new ways for buyers to access premium domains without having full ownership in advance, while giving sellers additional ways to monetize their assets.
It is still very early, but the initial response is encouraging. We have already seen many domains leased through this platform and we are really excited to continue learning from both buyers and sellers as the app progresses.
Part of the feedback we hear quickly from sellers is around rental prices, especially for the high price range.
Our initial default is the rental price at 2% of the Buy-It-Now (BIN) price. While it may work well for many domains, vendors point out that the resulting monthly payment may feel too high as the domain price increases.
For example, a $ 100,000 domain worth 2% would result in a $ 2,000 monthly rental payment. While appropriate, in some cases, many sellers feel that a lower percentage can make the higher price domain more attractive to tenants and may increase overall demand.
Based on that feedback, we introduced value-added management.
New rental price options.
Sellers can now Set custom rental price By domain price range:

These are just guidelines. Vendors remain in control and can select the most appropriate percentage for their portfolio and strategy.
Individual domain pricing
We have also added the ability to set completely custom rents for each domain.

This means that the seller can:
- Use full portfolio pricing rules by default
- Override those rules for a specific domain
- Determine any personal monthly rent that they feel is appropriate for a particular name.
For example, a seller can use the entire rule of 1% portfolio for six domains while choosing a completely different monthly rental amount for some premium name that they believe guarantees a special price.
Keep learning
Domain Rentals is new to Atom, and we do not yet have all the answers.
Our approach is straightforward: enable careful listening, study data, and continually improve based on real-world usage.
Initial improvements and initial lease operations are encouraged, but we are still in the early stages.
Thank you to all of you for sharing your suggestions and feedback. Please keep it coming.
