Some days your mind acts like an overprotective security guard: it scans for danger, overreacts to harmless signals, and pulls an alarm before you finish a sentence.
Anchor Words are a gentle way to disrupt that circle.
Think of them as Mental safety terms: Pre-selected short words (or small phrases) that you say to yourself to signal, “Pause. I’m safe enough. I can choose my next move.” They are not magic. They are Sign– A switch that moves you from autopilot to awareness.
They work best when you use them the way you want to use the seat belt: Previously Falling.

Common bugs (and easy fixes)
Mistake 1: Choose the word “too positive”
If your brain fights it, it will not work.
Repair: Use neutral anchors such as “Suspended” “Neutral” “Evidence” “Here”.
Mistake 2: Using the word Anchor only after you explode
It’s like using an umbrella after you get wet.
Repair: Use them Previously Predictable factors: email, meetings, leaving home, crowded places.
Mistake 3: Expecting words to erase emotions
Anchor Words do not erase emotions. They change your relationship with them.
Repair: Set the change to 10-20%. It’s enough to get the option back.
Prepare your 5 minutes (do it once)
Make three lists in your notes:
- Job (5 words)
- Home (5 words)
- Public (5 words)
Then select Anchor the word “universal”. For emergencies.
My preferences for universal use: Pause, Stable, Here, Clarity, Adequate security.
Last thought
Anchor Words are small, but they are not small. They are self-leadership practices: a way to tell your nervous system “I am responsible for my next activity”
And that – quietly over and over again – changed everything.
