Research shows that those who use their strength report more well-being (Littman-Ovadia and Steger, 2010). People tend to do better in the workplace and in social settings that match their special abilities, which they benefit from well-adjusted.

Those who are not able to use their strengths usually in a professional career or relationship that does not match their characteristics and, according to the model, are less fulfilling.

We are happier when we use our strength.

Peterson and Seligman (2004) suggest that individuals are happier when they use their strength because they feel their potential is being fulfilled.

When you use your strengths regularly in life, you will feel good about yourself and the contribution you are making to others, whether your family or your colleagues.

And you may feel more appreciated by others in your life as well.

For example, Lavy, Littman-Ovadia, and Bareli (2014) found that couples became more satisfied in their relationships when they reported the use of force in their marriages.

These findings suggest that if an individual’s unique strengths “correspond” to the limitations of their marriage, they can use them more, receive more positive responses from their partner, feel more appreciated, and therefore be happier in their relationship.

Remember that your strengths may fit one context, but not another, so that fits the way you adjust. Consider your unique strengths and how they manifest in your life; You can also do strength tests like VIA 24 Power Classification.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. How can you use your strength?

Using your strengths does not mean becoming new, it just means doing more of what feels natural to you. Notice when you are actually in your entry, whether that is problem solving or just listening well and relying on it more often than obsessing over your weaknesses. That small change builds trust, strengthens relationships, and honestly may be the easiest answer for how to be happy.

2. What are 5 ways to be happy?

Happiness does not need a big life change, honestly. Start by using your natural strength often, things you already master without trying. Get enough sleep because things get harder when you are running empty. Spend real time with people who really make you feel good, not just for someone. Exercise your body, even short walks can count. And practice noticing small things rather than pursuing the next big thing. This is not destructive, it just works when you stick to it.

3. What is the biggest cause of unhappiness?

It is usually the gap between where you are and where you think you should go, comparing your life to highlighting the reforms of others. The relentless pursuit of the “perfect” state of life of what others have makes people quieter than anything. Add chronic stress, weak relationships, and indifference to your personal needs for too long, and this kind of unhappiness becomes the default instead of the exception.
